Daniel Dart Condemns Rep. Watson Coleman's Anti-Israel Votes

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

April 23, 2024

New Jersey – Daniel Dart, the congressional candidate for New Jersey's 12th District, criticizes incumbent Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman for her continued stance, which he perceives as supporting Hamas, an organization designated as a terrorist group by the U.S. Department of State.

On April 16, 2024, Congresswoman Watson Coleman was the only New Jersey representative to vote “NO” on a motion condemning the slogan “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” – a phrase widely seen as a call for Israel’s destruction as a Jewish majority state. “Bonnie Watson Coleman has failed to understand that this hateful, genocidal slogan cannot be realized without eradicating the state of Israel,” said Kathy Ales, a NJ-12 resident, mirroring widespread concerns about the slogan’s implications.

Additionally, on April 19, 2024, Watson Coleman voted against critical aid for Israel. It was passed with an overwhelming bipartisan majority of 366-58. “There is no question that I would have voted ‘YES’ on aid to Israel,” stated Dart. He also noted Watson Coleman’s voting record, saying, “This recent vote marks the fifth time in six months she’s opposed to bipartisan resolutions condemning Hamas and antisemitism, and has refused support for key democratic allies, which is a disturbing trend.”

A recap of Congresswoman Watson Coleman’s votes:

  • On October 16, 2023, less than ten days after a horrific attack on October 7, she called for a ceasefire that would have left Israel vulnerable and delayed any possible release of 240 hostages taken captive by Hamas.
  • On November 2, 2023, she was the sole member from New Jersey to refuse to condemn Hamas in House Resolution 798.
  • On December 5, 2023, she was once again alone in the New Jersey delegation, voting against House Resolution 894 that condemned antisemitism.

"I will consistently oppose any organizations with ties to terrorism and vehemently counter antisemitism,” Dart affirms. “Our district merits leadership that acknowledges the threats from internationally recognized terrorist groups and upholds the principles of democratic freedom and global stability.”

The repeated pattern of votes from Congresswoman Watson Coleman raises significant concerns about her positions on Israel and terrorism. Daniel Dart pledges to represent the values of his constituents by supporting peace, stability, and democratic alliances.
